| Job Description |
A permanent choir director to conduct the choir during Sunday Divine Liturgy, and other services such as Feast Days, weddings, Funerals and Presanctified Liturgies as necessary. The choir director will also conduct at least one choir rehearsal per week, teach new choir members the church music, teach how to read music to those members with beautiful voices but no formal training. We envision the choir director preparing an assistant to conduct in the choir director's absence. The ideal candidate will be an English speaking Orthodox communicant who understands the role of the choir in worship, has choral music training, and four part harmony choral directing experience. We seek an enthusiastic, inspirational music leader who will direct an acappella choir following Orthodox tradition. |
| Make-up of the choir |
The current choir is composed of male and female voices (four bass, 4 tenor, 5 alto and 3 soprano) with the male voices being stronger than the female. Choir members are from diverse backgrounds, are enthusiastic and love the music. Although essentially all the service is in English we acknowledge 5 languages in our liturgical music |

Our parish is compsed of multi-ethnic cradle Orthodox as well as many who have converted to the faith from a variety of religious backgrounds. We are a 200 member parish in a suburb of Washington, DC. Our parish was founded 18 years ago and has a strong group of people devoted to the church and its growth. We have a strong charity ministry. The Protection of the Holy Mother of God Parish is in the jurisdiction of the Romanian Episcopate of the OCA. |
