Cappella Romana, directed by Dr. Alexander Lingas, is a vocal chamber ensemble dedicated to combining passion with scholarship in its exploration of the musical traditions of the Christian East and West, with emphasis on early and contemporary music. Based in the Northwest, and founded in 1991, its name is derived from the medieval concept of the Roman oikoumene (inhabited world), which included not only Old Rome and Western Europe but also New Rome (Constantinople) and its commonwealth of Slavic and Syriac countries.

The National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians, an organization dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of Greek Orthodox church music, is responsible for the development, recognition, and support of church choir and liturgical music activities. The Forum also serves as the liaison between local church musicians, the diocesan church music federations, and the Archdiocese.

Other Publications: Liturgical Guidebook, a comprehensive layout of the hymns to be sung on all Sundays and major feasts.

The Serbian Singing Federation is a nonprofit organization, founded for the purpose of organizing, developing, and coordinating the efforts of its member choirs through festivals, conventions, choral workshops, scholarship funds, and recordings. The greatest wealth of the SSF is in its library, comprising the works of 96 Serbian composers with thousands of musical scores. It has been said that the Federation Library is more complete than any Serbian music collection in the world.

The Society of Saint Romanos, formed in October, 2001, by artistic director Peter Jermihov, holds as its mission the presentation of cultural events of the highest caliber, within a framework and vision of Orthodox Christianity in America. The St. Romanos Cappella is a professional chamber ensemble of singers and instrumentalists devoted to the highest attainable artistic goals. The St. Romanos Children’s Choir, consisting of talented Orthodox singers 816 years of age, will begin rehearsing after Labor Day in September 2003.

The Spirit of Orthodoxy Choir, formerly named the New Jersey Deanery Choir, was established in 1997 under the direction of Aleksei Shipovalnikov. The choir consists of singers from various parishes and jurisdictions who are dedicated to church singing and who desire to be witnesses to the faith through music.

The St. Romanos the Melodist Society produces and publishes English language music of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Society produces music in printed and recorded formats, and conducts seminars and workshops on the proper performance of that music. The Society is affiliated with the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, an English mission parish currently worshipping in Beltsville, Maryland.

Traveling Treby was established in September of 1994 as a not-for-profit corporation, as a religious supporting organization of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR), providing material, resources, and assistance to church choirs, their directors, members of the clergy, and other participants in order to foster religious worship. Activities include publishing of church music and liturgical texts, producing recordings of church services, church choir conferences, and other performances relating to sacred music of the Russian Orthodox Church, and disseminating educational material, relating to church singing and choir directing, through publications, lectures, recordings, or otherwise.
