PSALM
Liturgical Music Survey 2002
Summary Results - September 2002

BACKGROUND: PSALM, Inc., mailed surveys to all members at their mailing addresses of record, distributed surveys to St. Vladimir's Seminary Summer Institute attendees, and used other workshop and church organization gatherings to solicit input from members and non-members. Of an estimated 250 surveys thus distributed, 58 returned completed. The following data do not "total" (i.e. add up to 58 in each instance), since many questions offered opportunity for multiple responses, and since respondents skipped questions in a number of cases. The following report is numbered to match the numbers of the Survey Questions. In general, where the survey questions are "open," we have included only responses in which 3 or more respondents made essentially the same response. In other words, we have not included singular responses except in the narrative answers to Q8, under separate cover.

1. DEMOGRAPHICS: Responses came from 15 states: 19 from Michigan, 7 from NY, 6 each from NJ and PA, 5 from IN, 3 from OH, two each from MD and MN, and 1 each from CT, KS, NH, IN, OK, IL, VA, and WA.
