How to handle isons.
Chant with ison can be notated either:
- On a single staff, using Layer 1 for the melody and Layer 2 for the ison, in whole notes or longas (double whole notes). In this case stemming and slurring remains as if there were only a single melody on the staff (i.e. stems up and down as appropriate, and slurs above or below, as appropriate). To achieve this, the Freeze Stems and Freeze Ties options for Layer One (in Options/Layers menu) need to be turned "off" (unchecked).
- On two staves (using the Melody/Ison template). In this case the note values for the ison correspond to those of the chant.
