The PSALM Journal is conceived as opportunity to pursue various topics related to Orthodox
liturgical music in greater depth. The contents of the journal are intended to cover any number of
areas, including liturgical music theory, history, composer biography, music analysis, and reviews of
relevant published writings.
The PSALM Journal is now preparing for its first issue through the solicitation and finalization of
articles and reviews. Various staff members and committees have been arranged by the editor, Mark
Bailey, in support of the journal, including an administrative assistant, associate editors, and an
advisory committee. An executive committee of Alice Hughes, Anne Schoepp, and Mark Bailey
oversees both the Journal and PSALM Notes, the journals sister publication, which focuses on the
more practical elements of liturgical music.
The intention of PSALM is to publish an issue of the journal once a year. As soon as the finalization
of articles is complete, which should take place by June 30, 2003, journal committees and staff will
focus on matters of fundraising to cover the first issue and the logistics of production.
