PSALM and the Internet A Report of the Website Committee
PSALM Website team: Vlad Morosan (Chair), Alice Hughes, Helen Levenetz (Editorial)
Aaron Armstrong, Ted Feldman, Sandra Howard (Technical)
Because it is by nature a geographically dispersed organization, PSALM is committed to the use of Internet technology to further the following goals:
- to serve as a facilitator of communication and community-building among church musicians
- to provide the means of connecting church musicians to needed resources
PSALMs website accomplishes this in three realms:
I. General website
- Provides latest news about PSALM programs, publications, and events
- Provides complete and up-to-date listings of PSALM publications and products, along with ordering information
- Serves as a resource through on-line posting of Directory
- Helps build an on-line community by means of the Photo Gallery
- Provides a Job Forum for posting church music job openings and job seekers resumes
- Will enable interactive ordering, taking a survey, making a monetary contribution, becoming a volunteer
II. Web-based management of membership and regional networks
- On-line databases of Contacts (individuals) and Institutions (parishes, seminaries, organizations, etc) allow designated volunteers to enter data using their web browser
- Allows regional PSALM coordinators to look up contacts and institutions in their area for purposes of networking and promoting local events
- Will allow on-line renewal of membership and updating of information
II Website Resources
- Resources from Directory will be updated dynamically
- Liturgical Music Reference Center includes Glossary of liturgical terms and will contain articles and other educational resources gathered from difficult-to-access periodicals and other sources
- Liturgical Music Resource will serve as a one-stop resource for identifying and selectively downloading all available musical settings for entire liturgical year
Website Visibility and Promotion
- Submission to search engines
- Link exchanges
