PSALM presence at Orthodox Church in America All-American Council

PSALM had a strong presence at the All-American Council in Orlando, Florida from July 20-26, 2002. Hundreds of lay and clergy delegates, current PSALM members and supporters and other guests visited the PSALM booth in the exhibition area throughout the week. Available for purchase at the booth were back issues of PSALM Notes and PSALM Music Press, and the new Selected Choral Works of Fr. Sergei Glagolev.

The new volume of works by Fr. Glagolev was purposely published in time for the All-American Council, in celebration of Fr. Sergei's 50th Anniversary to the priesthood. The music volume was extremely well received, with over 400 copies being purchased. During the reception prior to the Grand Banquet on Thursday evening a book signing was held in the reception area, at which Fr. Sergei was able personally to greet and sign books for the many clergy, church musicians and lay people whose spiritual and musical growth he has influenced.

PSALM Board members Vladimir Morosan and Walter Obleschuk, and PSALM Executive Director Valerie Yova Sheets participated as music workshop leaders and/or conductors for the various services that took place during the All-American Council.

An informal meeting of PSALM's new Advisory Council was held on Wednesday afternoon, since so many of our Advisory Council members were present for the All-American Council. We used this opportunity to thank the members of the Advisory Council for their willingness to support PSALM's mission and goals and to bring them up to date on current projects and programs, as well as plans for the future.

The new PSALM membership structure was introduced in time for the All American Council, and as a result, many parishes and individuals became members of PSALM.

The Board of Directors and staff were thrilled to meet in person so many members and supporters of PSALM, to spread the message of what PSALM has to offer all Orthodox Church musicians AND their parishes, and to make lots of new friends for the organization!
